Kundalini is a power or energy which exists in every human body , though in a dormant state. This source of energy is like a coiled serpent. At the bottom of the human spine, this corporeal energy lies inactively as a libidinal and instinctive power. The purpose of Kundalini yoga is to awake and raise this sleeping serpent from Muladhara Chakra upto the Sahasrara Chakra through various yogic austerities such as asana, pranayama and dhyana. By awakening this Kundalini shakti, an individual becomes aware of his/her own body and mind. It awakens our inner knowledge as well as improves the inner growth. By enlightening the soul, it helps to connect with the cosmic power and thus let the human being feel the oneness with the universe.
